The Giant Pumpkin Carve & Pumpkin Pageant

giant pumpkin logo NODateMeals on Wheels will hold this annual fundraising event at the Salem County Fairgrounds from 4 pm to 9 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and free for children ages 5 and under. Local artists come together with high school and amateur artists to carve giant pumpkins. The fall event attracts about 4,000 people each year and offers a pumpkin light show, free hayrides, kids crafts, straw maze, music and more family fun. It celebrates the agricultural and artistic heritage of Salem County, while raising money for Meals on Wheels. Sponsorships are available and small businesses can participate as vendors to help support our program. Call Peg or Teresa for more information at 865-935-3663. Meals on Wheels began the Pumpkin Pageant five years ago to celebrate our Salem County youth. Girls ages 5 to 16 will participate in the preliminary competition the week prior to the Pumpkin Carve. Three winners will be crowned at the Giant Pumpkin Carve on September 27th: Pumpkin Queen (new category, age 13-16) Pumpkin Princess (age 9-12) or Junior Pumpkin Princess (age 5-8).
