Meals on Wheels began the Pumpkin Pageant s years ago to celebrate our Salem County youth. Girls ages 5 to 16 participate in the preliminary competition the week prior to the Pumpkin Carve. It will be held at the 2nd Baptist Church, Pedricktown NJ on September 11, 2016, 4 pm. Three winners will be crowned at the Pageant and will participate in the Giant Pumpkin Carve festivities on September 24, 2016 at the Salem County Fairgrounds. The Giant Pumpkin Carve is a family-friendly fall festival that attracts about 4,000 people each year. The event showcases the agricultural and artistic heritage of Salem County, while raising money for Meals on Wheels. Professional, amateur and student artists carve 65 giant pumpkins to display for public viewing and judging. It offers a pumpkin light show, free hayrides, costume contest, kids activities, food, wine tasting, vendors, music and more!
