Meet Amy Myers, a volunteer on our Pilesgrove – Woodstown route. She recently shared with us about her experience as a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver.
“I started volunteering with Meals on Wheels because I wanted an opportunity to serve my community. I’m a social butterfly and this allows me an opportunity to serve and visit with multiple people. Seeing their faces when they open the door and the smile I get from them warms my heart. I truly enjoy the clients on my route.
Delivering Meals is important to me because the clients are receiving a warm meal and someone is checking on their well being daily. I’m sure this is a relief to the client and their caregivers.
I enjoy the stories I’ve had the pleasure of hearing. Some of my clients make ME feel special when they greet me with THERE SHE IS or I get a great big smile and thank you. It brings me so much joy.
I’ve been volunteering with MOW since 2017.
I’m a lifelong Salem County Resident (and)
I’m a Mother of two children 20 and 16.
I am one of the lucky ones, I love my career. I’m a Nurse at the Salem County Correctional Facility. It gives me an additional opportunity to serve my community. ”
Thank you Amy!
