Our first Thankful Thursday is dedicated to volunteer Celeste Mills. Thank you to Celeste for delivering more than just a meal to our clients! Celeste has been a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels of Salem County for 3 years now. She started driving when she found that she had some extra time outside of work and wanted to spend it giving back to her local community, specifically helping the senior population within her community. She loves the sense of “giving back” and helping that she receives from her days delivering meals and establishing relationships with the clients. Sometimes, our drivers are the only person a client sees throughout their entire day and this is one reason that Celeste feels that Meals on Wheels is so important and more than just a meal! Celeste has always had a sense of purpose to be a helper, no matter how small or insignificant a gesture may seem. We are so lucky to have her as a volunteer driver at Meals on Wheels of Salem County! She not only drives her regularly scheduled route once every four weeks, but also fills in on other days that drivers are needed when she is able to.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
