Thank you to Dawn for delivering more than just a meal! Dawn believes in giving her free time to help others. She truly loves Salem County and the people who live here and says that it is a privilege to be a part of serving Meals on Wheels to our disabled and elderly homebound residents. She says that Meals on Wheels is an organization that she truly believes in as it allows for the clients to remain in their homes while getting a nutritious meal and a safety check each weekday. She also loves to bring her grandchildren along on her route as well when they are not in school! She believes that it is important to help teach them to be giving to others and she knows how much our clients enjoy seeing the kids too.
Dawn has gone above and beyond for our organization and clients, even bringing a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal to a client that was alone on Thanksgiving day. She got some family members together after eating their own meal, packed up a plate of food, and brought everyone over to visit with her! Though the client was incredibly thankful and touched by this gesture, Dawn is the one that felt that she was blessed to be able to share with her. Dawn and her husband have been farming vegetables in Salem County since 1981 and, in addition to being a volunteer driver, they donate their time, equipment, and services each year to help us out on the hayrides at our Giant Pumpkin Carve. They raised their children here in Salem County and feel very fortunate to be a part of this community and be able to give back to it. And we feel fortunate to have volunteers like Dawn as a part of our team!
If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
