#ThankfulThursday

Thank you to Chelsea, Lauren, and Amber, the Delco Development team, for delivering more than just a meal! Chelsea, who is the front office manager at both the Super 8 and the Hampton Inn in Pennsville, met our Volunteer Coordinator, Teresa, at a mixer and was intrigued by what Meals on Wheels does. Chelsea wanted to find out what her company could do to help. The Delco Development company was on board with having a team deliver meals as a service to the community and Meals on Wheels of Salem County is incredibly grateful to have them!

Volunteering is important to this team-it is something that they look forward to doing! They say that the clients that they deliver to make it feel very special. Sometimes, the drivers are the only interaction that our clients get in their day and this team enjoys taking a few extra minutes to talk to them and help them feel less alone. Chelsea says it makes her feel so good to help those who need it. She even tells a story about a client who told her how much she looks forward to the days that they deliver because she can tell that they care and they always take the time to talk to her and make sure she is okay. We are so lucky to have volunteers like Chelsea and her team that truly care about the seniors and disabled people in our community!

If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
