Dot Mason

Dot Mason of Carney’s Point decided to volunteer when she retired and finally had the time to help in the community. She realized that there are so many people in our community that need help and she thinks Meals on Wheels is a great organization-“very well organized and so very important”.

Her family had first-hand experience with the program; when her mother-in-law was no longer able to cook for herself she received meals and sometimes the volunteer was the only person that she would talk to all day. She really looked forward to it and there are so many elderly people in the same position.

Dot said after she started delivering her husband decided he would like to make it a team effort so he drives her to the client’s homes and helps with organizing and placing the food into the individual bags. She said it has really turned into a family event with even their dog, Chewie, coming along for deliveries.
