Thank you to Elena for delivering more than just a meal to our clients! Elena began volunteering as a member of the Chamber team. Her responsibility lied in delivering meals once a year as a part of this team but she felt that she wanted to do more to give back to the community. Elena picked up a regular route, driving once every four weeks and, as her schedule as a realtor for American Dream Realty allows, has also been extremely helpful in filling in when we need a substitute driver. Volunteering for Meals on Wheels was something that she had thought about doing for a while since she is a very caring person and feels that the elderly tend to need more help and have less family to do so. She knows how fragile their health can be and how important it is to have a hot, nutritious meal delivered to their door. She says that every client she meets is so humble and grateful and this makes volunteering rewarding for her as well.

Elena feels that Meals on Wheels is such a vital service for Salem County so she even volunteers at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve and has recruited her husband as well in order to help us raise money to fund more meals for the hungry seniors of our community!

If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve this fall, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
