Gerry Jones of Pennsville talks about volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She is pictured with her friends and fellow volunteers, Doris Hanna and Mary Jane Cruice.
“I retired from the Penns Grove-Carneys Point School District about 10 years ago and that gave me time to do some volunteer work I had always wanted to do. I learned about Meals on Wheels from the Pumpkin Carve at the Salem County fairgrounds.
Volunteering for Meals on Wheels is important to me because I feel no one in this country, with all its wealth and blessings, should go hungry because they are homebound, elderly, or ill.
It is very rewarding to know that you are making a difference in the lives of our clients for a couple of hours of work.”
