#ThankfulThursday

Thank you to Alecia, Vince, and their family for delivering more than just a meal! Alecia originally started volunteering for Meals on Wheels with her church on their monthly delivery route. She enjoyed it so much that, even when they started a family, Alecia continued volunteering! When starting a new job that allowed her to work volunteer hours, Alecia recruited her husband, Vince, to join her as his work offered volunteer hours as well. It was at that time that they started delivering on their own, outside of the church’s monthly route. In the summer or on holiday breaks, Alecia and Vince bring the kids along with them in order to teach them the importance of giving to others. They feel that delivering meals to the homebound elderly and disabled is important, because it gives back to their community and they know that, for some, volunteers are the only interaction that they will have in their day.

Alecia says that she loves the memories that she has of her children “growing up” delivering meals. She volunteered for us while she was pregnant and even brought the kids along with her from the time that they were born up until now! They all remember delivering meals when they were younger and they still enjoy doing it now at the ages of 12, 11, and 9.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
