Karen Berry of Pennsville is entering her 18th year of volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She had these words to share about her volunteering experience.
“I began volunteering for MOW after my mother-in-law passed away ….she had been a recipient for a few years and it was such a relief that she was receiving a healthy meal and more importantly a visit on a daily basis. I feel like I have a special bond with senior citizens and the elderly and I so enjoy meeting them and maybe in some little way brightening their day. But I have to say I think I receive more from them than they receive from me…..if you are having maybe not the best day and it’s your MOW day it will turn everything around…..the kind words and compliments given to me by our clients are priceless! Our family has participated on many a Thanksgiving delivery and I love sharing the experience with my kids and grandkids and showing them that volunteering and giving back to the community is such a wonderful experience!”
Thank you for delivering more than a just meal Karen!
