Katie Halpin

#ThankfulThursday

Meet Katie Halpin who has been volunteering with us for 3 years. She owns a Cali-Mex Restaurant, Taco Lindo, with her husband in Logan Township.

Katie runs a local outreach group for her church called CBLocal. The group had been going to a local nursing home monthly to volunteer & she was excited to help with Meals on Wheels also because she really enjoyed the seniors. Volunteering once every four weeks fit into her slightly hectic schedule & she even recruited a few friends that are still delivering also.

She feels Meals on Wheels is important because no senior should be hungry or lonely. Spending a little time with each client and making sure they are safe makes her happy. She also loves bringing her kids to deliver when they are home from school. The seniors love seeing them plus she thinks it’s important for her kids to learn about giving back in the community.

Katie told us that she was given a nickname, “Taco Girl”, by the family of one of the clients on the route and she loves it!

In addition to running a business, volunteering, being married and having 4 children, Katie recently started her MSW program at Widener in social work.

Thank you for fitting us into your busy schedule and for Delivering More Than Just A Meal!
