It’s #ThankfulThursday!

Thank you Marva for delivering more than just a meal! Marva began volunteering in 2008 after she retired from the Pittsgrove-Elmer Child Study Team as a Social Worker. After seeing an advertisement stating the need for volunteer drivers in Pittsgrove, Marva signed up knowing that she could make a difference! She knows how important the meal delivery and visits are to the clients but Marva enjoys the visits just as much as they do! After delivering for 11 years, there is just one of her original clients left whom she shares a special appreciation and kindness for. There are many clients who have moved or passed away that she misses dearly as well.

When the need arose for volunteers for our Buddy Program, Marva signed up to be a Buddy for not one, but two of our clients! She developed a special bond with them and even spent time visiting one of her Buddies in the hospital when she was ill. The clients that she became Buddies for were very grateful that it was her since they already had a friendly relationship with her and knew that she was kind and helpful. On top of all of what she already does for the client of Meals on Wheels of Salem County, Marva also goes above and beyond by helping clients with getting their mail, taking trash cans in and out, and helping to sweep snow off of their walkways. We are so very grateful for volunteers like Marva and we are so lucky to have her!

If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver, how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve on October 5th, or how you can help out in the office, please call us at 856-935-3663 or email Teresa at .
