Michele Wallin

Michele recently celebrated 5 years as a volunteer and unfortunately for us, August was her last month to delivery. She and her husband have decided to move back to the area where she grew up in Pennsylvania. Below she shared about her experience as a volunteer.

“I started Meals on Wheels when my youngest went into the military to keep me busy so I wouldn’t miss him as much. I kept pretty busy that first year he was away. My grandmother used to get Meals on Wheels in PA and I know she appreciated the meals and the companionship with the volunteers. I always thought it would be fun to do if I had the time. Since I am blessed to be able to work part time I am glad I had the opportunity to deliver on my day off. I particularly enjoyed delivering with my oldest son, I think it impressed on him the need to take the time to help other people. It’s also always fun to get to know new people. I will be looking for a chance to serve Meals on Wheels wherever I end up in PA. Thanks so much and sorry to have to say goodbye to my route. I really enjoyed my time on the Penn Salem route.”
