Thank you to Phil, Ron, Sue, and Dawn for delivering more than just a meal to our clients! This family of service began with Dawn volunteering for Meals on Wheels 5 years ago. Since then, Ron and Phil both retired and wanted to give back to the community. They each picked up a route to deliver meals on, knowing the impact that Meals on Wheels has on its clients after Ron’s father received meals in the past. Ron recruited his niece, Sue, to join him in volunteering and she fills in alone on the days that he is out of town and unable to deliver meals with her. They all decided that they wanted to give back to their community and have been delivering meals on their regular route, as well as filling in when a substitute is needed. They all believe that Meals on Wheels is an excellent and necessary service for homebound residents in the county and they love the socialization and connection with the clients-they feel that this brightens up their day as well to be able to help others and see how appreciative they are! Sometimes our volunteers are the only people that our clients see all day and we love having volunteers like this family who know how important it is to spend time with them.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
