Thank you to Yvonne & Jim for delivering more than just a meal! After 6 years of building The Inn at Salem Country Club, Yvonne and Jim came across a brochure about Meals on Wheels of Salem County and decided that they could offer the two hour commitment per month to volunteer for the organization. Not only did they decide to make the volunteer commitment, but they each took on their own separate routes! Volunteering for Meals on Wheels was important to them because they understood that the need was there for hungry residents to receive meals. After delivering meals a few times though, they also saw that the clients were hungry for contact and interaction with the volunteers as well. They understand that, often, our volunteers are the only face a client sees throughout their day and they know how much it means to them. They enjoy getting to know the clients and having them open up about their lives and experiences over time.
When they are not volunteering or running The Inn at Salem Country Club, Yvonne and Jim can be found outdoors, whether it is on a bike or walking their dog along the Elsinboro beach. They have lived in Salem County for the past three years and truly enjoy the natural beauty that our area has to offer.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can volunteer for 2 hours, once every four weeks as a driver as well, or how you can volunteer at our annual Giant Pumpkin Carve, please call our office at 856-935-3663.
